streamed sound

When you import sound files, you can identify the sound as either a streamed sound or an event sound.

In a Macromedia® Flash file, streamed sound is played as it arrives on the users machine.

Because Streaming Sound samples are broken into small bits and inserted between the video frame, the Macromedia® Flash player can start playing the sound before receiving the full sound track. This is useful when you have a long sound track such as background music.

The Macromedia® Flash player keeps the streaming sound synchronized with the video by dropping frames if necessary, for example, if the video renderer is too slow and falls behind the sound track.
